Story
In October this year we will be taking on the worlds biggest freestanding mountain, Mt Kilimanjaro. Standing at 19,341 ft it will be a huge challenge for us both!
As newlyweds it will be a honeymoon with a difference as the climb itself will take us 8 days with upto 8 hours of walking each day and camping in tents at night.
We are part of a team of 42 who will be embarking on the huge challenge! We will also be looking to get into the record books as we will be sleeping in the crater at 5400 metres and then playing the highest ever altitude game of football for a Guinness World Record.
We heard of this great charity through our love of rugby league and we are so happy that we have been selected to take on this challenge and ask that you please help us reach our target and raise £10,000!
Steve Prescott was a professional rugby league player and the Foundation was set up in 2007 after he was diagnosed with a rare abdominal cancer (Pseudomyxoma Peritonei). He underwent pioneering multi-visceral transplant surgery in 2013 but tragically passed away 3 weeks later as a result of complications. A result of this pioneering surgery has meant that more people have been able to have the same operation and now have a much improved quality of life. Funds raised go to The Christie Cancer Hospital in Manchester - an illness that has affected everyone, everywhere and also Try Assist.
