RNLI FUNDRAISING INITIATIVE – THE YELLOW WELLIE CHALLENGE

The RNLI (with whom we have been working for some time) recently launched a fundraising initiative called the Yellow Wellie Challenge - and we have signed up for it. The challenge is to raise at least £1000 before the end of the year (actually we hope to raise a lot more than that). You can find out more about the scheme on the RNLI website: http://www.rnli.org.uk/yellow-wellie.

We have decided, as part of our fundraising challenge, to organise a Yellow Wellie Relay from our Lerwick office to our Edinburgh office. From later this month, we’ll be transporting an RNLI yellow wellie by foot, bike, sail and whatever other means (other than car, bus or train!) we can come up with, calling at the RNLI stations on the way. In all, given the proposed route, we reckon our wellie will travel around 380 miles.

There are various ways in which you can support the challenge and we’d be absolutely delighted if you would contribute in any way possible.

First, we are looking for volunteers to take part in the relay – over as long or as short a distance as they like and using whichever means of environmentally transport they choose. We would be looking to the volunteers to get individual sponsorship, be it ever so small, for their mileage. So if you or any of your colleagues fancy some fresh air, a hefty dose of feelgood factor, and a Yellow Wellie certificate, we’d be thrilled.

Alternatively, we are hoping that companies and organisations might support us financially, either by sponsoring the wellie over all or part if its journey or simply by coming up with a nice round figure and writing us a cheque.

We do see this relay as offering plenty of good PR opportunities and, of course, we would ensure that our supporters were featured in press releases and other information that we put out. Every supporter will receive a Yellow Wellie Relay certificate.

We’d really appreciate your help with this and look forward to hearing from you. Should you require any further information, please don’t hesitate to give me a call or e-mail me (alastair.bruce@shaw-online.com).
