International Speedway rider and captain of the King’s Lynn Stars Rory Schlein has set a target of £10,000 to raise for Breast Cancer Care by the end of the current season.
The popular racer has decided to let his beard and hair grow until the last home King’s Lynn Stars meeting of the season against Swindon on August 27th, 2014, then it will be shaved off during the interval.
Ahead of the challenge, Rory said: “Breast Cancer Care is a great charity and one I am keen to help by using my profile within the speedway world. My friend and mechanic Lee sadly lost his sister to the disease recently and to be honest, it knocked me back a bit and made me think ‘I want to help’.
“We have got lots of things planned during the season and I hope, with your help, we reach the target of £10,000.”
There are plenty of ways to get involved with Rory’s challenge. Special pink ‘Shave The Roo’ wristbands will be available at tracks around the country and can also be purchased via his website (roryschlein.com).
A range of merchandise will also be available with all profits going to the ‘Shave The Roo’ challenge.
On July 16, King’s Lynn Speedway have agreed to turn the Norfolk Arena pink for the night with fans urged to dress in pink to support Rory challenge. The Stars will be wearing special one-off race jackets which will be auctioned off to help raise funds.
