Some of you may know this, many of you will not, but some weeks ago my good friends daughter Francesca was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma, which is a cancer of the lymphatic system. It is sometimes called Hodgkin’s disease.
She has started her treatment which is based around 6 cycles of Chemotherapy, which will take a minimum of 6 months. In 6 weeks’ time she will undergo further assessments to see if she needs Radiotherapy at the end of her current treatment. ... The major physical side effect to the Chemotherapy is Alopecia, which you may know as hair loss to the scalp. Her hair has started to fall out and it is likely that within the next week, she will have lost all of her hair.
In a bid to make things more bearable for Francesca a shave-a-thon has been organised which i am taking part in..
I would like to help to raise as much money as i can money for the Teenage Cancer Trust to thank them for what they are doing for Francesca and so many other teenagers like her, who have been diagnosed with cancer.
So on the 21st of May i am going to join others and shave all my hair off. In fact i am growing it specially.
