Hello again!
So, I accidentally signed up for this run (meaning to sign up for one in July, which I have also signed up for... hmmm). But thought I would make the most of it and try to raise a little money for the NSPCC (http://www.nspcc.org.uk).
In case you don't know, the NSPCC is the only other body apart from social care services that can carry out Child Protection Investigations in the UK. It also lobbies to improve policy and legislation for children and challenges public attitudes towards children. In addition, NSPCC conducts a whole lot of invaluable research into improving the lives of children and protecting them from harm, and funds therapeutic and support projects for children, young people and their families. They also provide a free ChildLine (0800 1111) for children and a free referral and advice line for the public and professionals (0808 800 5000).
Please donate anything you are able and willing to donate to support the NSPCC - anything you are able to give is greatly appreciated!
Examples of how your money could be spent: £5 will pay for crayons so a child can draw a picture about their feelings when they find it hard to talk about their experiences; £12 can by a tea set for a play session at an NSPCC family centre, helping parents bond with their children; £15 could pay for a call to ChildLine from a child or a young person.
The best way to donate is online through this site. Just follow the instructions... starting by clicking the 'SPONSOR ME NOW' link.
As a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many many many thanks for your support!
