Story
My Mother was diagnosed with Lambda Myeloma in 2013 and started undergoing treatment. Unfortunately the treatment failed to cure but was able to slow its development. One of the treatments caused kidney damage to where she wasn't able to live a normal life and required full time care, which Craig (my brother) gave up work to support. He gave her dialysis and the much needed support
in her last few years.
When the pandemic hit she took it really bad, loosing her faith, not able to experience your numbered days the way you had hoped or planned. One thing she did manage to so though still and she loved was, a walk along the canal although in her wheel chair with Craig the dog and when permitted to stop and have a drink at the globe.
I took up cycling in Jan 2019 and as someone who was 24 stone seen a great benefit to my health and wellbeing. I am now 6 stone less and cycled a number of century rides, and also become a coach with a local cycling club in Newbury (Newbury Velo). I really wanted to do something to raise money for my mother that not many can say they have done and cycling 205 miles seemed like exactly that.
