Story

I am a Construction Project Manager for Morgan Sindall. In my job building schools, offices, hotels or hospitals I point and try to look important on building sites. I like to be outdoors so I am usually on a rugby field, a paddleboard, coastal path or in a beer garden on the “Leisure Peninsula” that is the Wirral. I am a middle aged man who has managed to swerve every dance floor for my whole life and I had every intention of keeping this illustrious record. I have had the "can't dance, won't dance" philosophy for my whole life, I do not generally strut my stuff to music. Rhythm and coordination is not something I was born with and I am sure my wife, 3 children friends at the rugby club will agree. I am a member of my beloved Caldy Rugby Club, where I currently play Touch Rugby.

When the opportunity to get involved in some exciting charity work was presented by my boss (due to an unfortunate clash in his diary), how could I refuse? He told me all I would need to do was have dancing lessons and Strictly Dancing for the Big Trust would be fine. Reassured by his confidence in me (ignoring the advice of my teenage children), I jumped at the opportunity to embarrass myself to raise money for charity. The Big Trust is an inspirational charity and deserves all the support anyone can offer. To be honest, I don't watch Strictly, I never have and probably never will. I know I am a terrible dancer and I am terrified of making a fool of myself but for one night I am sure I can do it. It is no great sacrifice as long as I can get the fundraising in. I have been learning to dance with Holly. She has the patients of a Saint and has been so supportive. She has instilled confidence in me and I hope to make my family and colleagues proud. Please support me with whatever donation you can.

On Saturday 17th September 2022 The Big Trust will host a strictly style dance competition and fundraising event at The Titanic Hotel, Liverpool.10 amateur volunteers from various businesses across the Liverpool City Region, paired with a professional dance partner, will take on the strictly challenge and learn how to dance in just 3 months before the BIG NIGHT of sparkle and sequins. Where they will perform to a live audience of over 350 guests and to a panel of expert judges.Who will scoop the glitter ball trophy? Our dancers are taking themselves way out of their comfort zones and will be asking for sponsorship to raise funds to help grow the Charity, to enable us to deliver our programmes to more schools across the Liverpool City Region and support as many vulnerable adults supporting them into employment.Your support will mean the world to them and The Big Trust. Thank you!
