Story
There’s a trauma I’m learning to live with, scars my body is still healing from and yet I’m still hopeful for the future (most days).
Earlier this year I found out I was pregnant. We went in for an early scan and it was confirmed - I was having an ectopic pregnancy. After that it’s a blur but everything moved fast (thank you NHS 🌈). Within a couple of hours I’m being wheeled in for emergency surgery and later that evening I’m discharged with one less tube and baby. Left to pick up the pieces and try to comprehend what just happened.
I had heard of ectopic pregnancy but never paid much attention before it happened to me.
Ectopic pregnancy is when a fertilised egg implants itself outside the womb. It happens to 1 in 80 pregnancies and is still the highest reason for early pregnancy maternal mortality in some countries.
I’ve never done anything like this before but this month I will be raising money for Ectopic Pregnancy Trust an amazing charity that has helped me . I’ll be taking part in their EPT80in1 challenge. Run, walk, bike (I’ll probably crawl) my way to 80 miles in 1 month.
Thank you for your support.
