Story
Greart Wall of China - March 2010
Hello and thank you for visiting our fundraising page.
We are taking part in the next campaign for Muscular Dystrophy which is trekking along the Great Wall of China for 6-8 hours a day and camping for 5 days in a remote part of rural China.
This is a massive adventure for two 40 plus mums, who are sooooo not fit and have never even slept in a tent in the back garden, but we've requested a tent with an ensuite and power supply for the hairdryer so I'm sure we will be fine!!
We've started our training, managing to get out a couple of times a week and walking 6/7 miles now when we go out.
We know first hand how Muscular Dystrophy affects families, Sharon's 17 year old son Spencer (my nephew) was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy when he was 3 years old.
To enable us to take part in this campaign we need to raise £2,500 each but would love to double this target and your help would be greatly appreciated in helping us reach this.
We've had fantastic support so far from family and friends, but still have a long way to go.
Where your money will go:-
£50 would fund an hour of a Muscular Dystrophy Campaign Care Adviser's time - they provide vital care and support for the babies, children and adults with muscle disease.
£250 could support the cost of a specially adapted computer which means a child with muscular dystrophy can complete their school work on their own.
£10,000 could buy a child a powered wheelchair so they are able to get around like any other child their age.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Muscular Dystrophy Campaign gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Please help us achieve our target and be part of our blood, sweat and tears.
Thank you for your support.
Sharon and Julie
