Story
Having completed a 10K push for charity in 2019 everyone told me I would get the bug...and they were right!
So, this year I've raised the bar slightly and will be attempting a full on Marathon...yes a ridiculous 26.2mile push!
Having had a riding accident at the age of 16, which left me paralysed and confined to a wheelchair. There were many dark moments when I didn't know what life would hold for me. But there came a time where I had to dig deep within, and say to myself that I'm either going to sink or swim.
Spinal cord injuries change lives, but it does NOT end them.
I have been lucky in my life, although difficult at times to have achieved what most people aspire to, own business, marriage, but the best achievement of all is my son Toby.
Through my business I have been so incredibly lucky to have had some amazing people around me to enable me to make memories people only dream of. One of these people is Rory Gilsenan . A man of many talents on all sorts of horses, with which many shows were visited and laughs had.
Rory was diagnosed in November 2018 with Brain Cancer, he has battled it with the most amazing Irish determination that anyone possible could, his family have been a total inspiration to many. But it is slowly, sadly getting the better off them.
Having followed Rory's treatment and illness closely, I felt I could do more. On looking into Brain cancer more I couldn't believe how many people are affected, and how little funding there is into the research for this type of cancer.
Hence my taking this on, if I can just do a little bit to help aid research and spare another family the agony of losing a loved one, then the pain, sore hands etc I am about to put myself through will be totally worth it.
