Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Mum was diagnosed with cancer in October 2016 and underwent radical surgery in February 2017. She made a remarkable recovery from complicated surgery and enjoyed a wonderful time with her family, for the remainder of that year. Sadly in February 2018 the family were told the devastating news that the cancer had spread and no treatment could be offered. Mum became very ill but managed to stay at home until near the end of her life when it was agreed that she should go into St Maragret's Hospice to help ease her symptoms. The care she, and the whole family, received at St Margaret's Hospice was incredible . The staff support the person who is near the end of life, and support the family to deal with what they are facing. Mum passed away peacefully with her family beside her on 16 March 2018. We believe that she was able to die peacefully and with dignity because of the treatment and care she received. Although we are devasted at loosing her, it has made a huge difference to the family, knowing that our mum's end of life care was the best it could be; that she was surrounded by professional and caring staff, and that she was not in pain or distress.
St Maragret's Hospice is a charity and relies very much on public donations. We believe that everyone who is at the end of their life should have access to this type of care. We want to do a little, with your support, to help this amazing place continue to help others who need this type of care when they are facing the most challenging time of their lives.
Thank you
Sharon
