Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Sadly on 28th June 2011, I lost my wonderful dad to cancer. Dad never ceased to amaze me as throughout his brave fight with this illness he showed great courage and continually reassured me, my brother and my sisters that he was feeling ok. "Champion" he used say "I'm feeling Champion"; right up until the end, whilst he was suffering, his love and protection for us never faltered.
He visited St Lukes Hospice for a short stay and was then readmitted before eventually losing his battle. Dad wanted to be in the care of St Lukes; they made him feel safe and he couldn't praise the staff enough. The care and attention they gave to him was amazing, but even more amazing was the fact that the staff at St Lukes also took the time to make sure all the family were ok whilst we were with dad in his final days; nothing was too much trouble for them, they really are very special people.
I think of dad everyday, remembering all the special and happy times we had together. Whilst the pain of not having him here seems endless I know that me and the rest of the family take comfort from the fact that dad felt safe in the care of St Lukes.
I will always be in awe of the work that St Lukes provide and helping to raise funds though the midnight walk will go some way to ensuring other cancer sufferers continue to receive the same care and attention as my dad.
Please take the time to look at my photos that I'd like to share with you; remembering those special and happy times!
