Story
Hi there, thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have decided to throw myself in "at the deep end" as they say and am doing the "Great North Swim" on 18th June. This is a one mile open water swim in Lake Windermere.
I'll be swimming to raise money for Isaac's house - a small charity based in Formby who have built orphanages in Uganda. I was inspired by a colleague of mine who goes out to Uganda every year to help carry on their work. She went in March to build the kids a playground.
Isaac House's vision is to build, establish and maintain homes in Uganda for Orphaned Children affected by war, HIV & poverty. They have built two homes so far & are plannning a third.
They are creating a safe, sustainable environment in which health, education and growth can be achieved. So the money really will make a difference to kids lives.
Please do have a look at photos on the web site - the kids smiles are worth it!
I love swimming but used to be a breast stroke without getting my hair wet type of girl! When I had this crazy idea I could not actually do front crawl, so have been having weekly lessons and think I have now mastered it. So I've got a new look - a wetsuit, hat & goggles and warn you to stay away from the Princes Dock on a Tuesday evening where I have been practicing with an open water club.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please "take a dip" in your wallet and donate what you can - remember I'm going to be very wet, very cold, very tired & very scared! But also VERY appreciative & I know the kids will be too.
Many thanks Sharon x
