Story
It appears that there is no end to mid-life foolishness - particularly when natural filial competitiveness gets involved! Not content with the challenges of bringing up 16 children (together, not each!), and spurred on by some vague objective to get fitter, the 5 Sharman brothers have decided to take on and tame the Sahara Desert. We will be starting somewhere in Morocco, on 13th March 2009 and will be walking (yes, walking!) 100 km across the desert to Marrakech. Apparently there will be a lot of sand!
The real objective of this madness is, of course, to raise money for a very worthwhile charity, "Help a London Child". London has the richest and poorest Boroughs in Europe, and the life lived by some of our least fortunate children is a sad reflection on one of the most affluent cities in the World. Our 10 days of modest discomfort will be extremely worthwhile if we are able, with your generous support, to help to alleviate just some of their hardship.
So please dig deep and help us to reach (and hopefully exceed) our fundraising target.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: GCap Charities - Help a London Child gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Your sponsorship (and anything matched by your employers) is greatly appreciated by all of us, and free gifts of sand (poured out from our boots at the end of the trip) will gladly be sent to our most generous supporters.
Kind regards
Mike, Charlie, William, Matthew and Nat
