Story
Here's what happened...
In May 2022, my Dad Colin (known to many as Sharky) was enjoying a sunny bike ride with his brother-in-law, when he devastatingly suffered from a heart attack, leading to a fatal cardiac arrest.
Colin was 57, an active man who truly squeezed everything out of life. The cheeky brother, the fun uncle, a devoted husband and one of a kind Dad. He had the gift of bringing laughter to family, friends and strangers alike. Losing him has been a complete shock and it has broken our hearts.
Who are 'Sharkys Soul Gang' and what are you up to?
The family has come together to continue Sharky's legacy - his love for life, adventure and fun! We've created a team, 'Sharkys Soul Gang' (a name inspired by his love of soul music and one of his favourite bands, Stretch Soul Gang - whose drummer just so happens to be his son Camden).
We'll be joining thousands of others on June 18th, all cycling the 54-mile epic city to coast route from London to Brighton for the British Heart Foundation. A fitting tribute as Colin took part in this very charity ride back in June 2017 - where he beat us all up the infamous Ditchling Beacon hill, something he never let us forget!!
Why the British Heart Foundation?
We hope that by taking part, raising money and awareness, this will lead to more research and solutions for catching heart issues and circulatory diseases earlier.
The suddenness of Colin's death has been one of the most challenging parts to accept. With little to no warning signs, or previous heart problems, we wish to raise funds that might just help another brother, husband or Dad out there to catch things early and prevent such a heartbreaking loss for another family.
