Story
Hi! Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page. Last year was really rocky and challenging for me mental health-wise. I had a psychotic episode in May which I was hospitalised for, and then became depressed and tried to take my own life in September. I'm in a much better place now and feeling happier than I ever have, doing a job that I really enjoy with lots of good friends around me. I've set myself the challenge of a half marathon in part to celebrate how far I've come and because I personally find that running is a great tool for improving my mental health. I want to promote the idea that physical fitness and mental wellbeing go hand-in-hand. The Charlie Waller Trust was set up in memory of a young man who suffered from depression and committed suicide in 1997. I am raising money for this charity because I have a desire to support others who suffer from poor mental health, and I know how tough it can be. This charity carry out effective, evidence-based work to support young people with mental health difficulties, working with schools, colleges, universities, workplaces and families. Most people I know have struggled with their mental health at some point or another. It has become something of an epidemic, brought on by the pressures of modern life, the pandemic and chronic overstimulation; the work of charities like Charlie Waller is needed more than ever.
I hope you will consider sponsoring me, even if it's just a small amount. Your support would mean a lot to me and you would be donating to a charity which makes a real difference to young people struggling with their mental health.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. Your details are safe - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity, so it's the most efficient way to donate.
Thank you for taking the time to read this :)
