Story
Here at the Tuolumne River Trust, we are a small team with a large impact. Our work is done in the community and outdoors along the watershed.
- Last year, we restored over 400 acres of forests in the Clavey Watershed and planted 5,150 trees in 135 acres of burned forest. (That’s about 3 million pounds of carbon sequestered over 50 years!)
- We collected 45 pounds of native seed to be used for future restoration projects and removed weeds from 63 acres in the upper watershed.
- We engaged over 1,700 volunteers in habitat restoration and river cleanups, removing 50 tons of garbage from the river and surrounding communities.
- We offered 55 outdoor recreation opportunities to underserved families and educated over 1,000 students in the classroom and through hands-on field trips.
- And we submitted over 130 pages of science-based comments to public agencies and have testified at 27 meetings and given countless community presentations that educate the public about current water policy issues.
*ALL OF THIS WORK IS BEING AFFECTED BY COVID-19.*
In these trying times, we must continue to fight for our most vulnerable populations, and for the health of our planet. As the market heads into a recession, small non-profits are losing funding rapidly. We need you now more than ever.
To continue our fight to protect our waterways, I am participating in this (virtual) Great Race for Saving Water "fund-racer". Any donation amount will help us continue this work into our 40th anniversary in 2021. Please support us if you can, and become a part of the legacy that brings the river back to health.
