Story
I am setting myself a goal to raise at least £1000 for Great Western Air Ambulance, as part of our family team target of £50,000.
This may sound like a monumental figure, but the reality is Great Western Air Ambulance require £3 million a year to operate and they do not receive any government funding, so they rely purely on the generosity of the public.
Every pound donated to this cause ensures victims of accidents in the most critical condition can be saved by getting to hospital as quickly as possible. I truly believe without an Air Ambulance my dad would not be here or would be in a far worse condition that he is in now.
Dad's accident was very severe. On 10th May 2019, he collided into the back of a lorry and was saved by Great Western Air Ambulance who airlifted him to Southmead Hospital in Bristol where he underwent major surgery to fix his broken neck. In addition to the neck breaks he had broken his back in 9 places, 5 ribs, a torn retina in my left eye, a stroke and numerous other issues.
Great Western Air Ambulances very fast response ensured my dad got the emergency medical attention that he required, which saved his life.
You cannot put a value on life; it is priceless. You never know when it could be you who needs help.
All donations are enormously appreciated.
