Story
So quite frankly I think I’m crazy! I don’t like heights and I’m not particularly keen on climbing. So why have I agreed to climb over the O2 at London 🤦♀️
I was lucky to be the wife of Brian, my soulmate for nearly 30 years. Brian sadly lost his life in January 2017 at the age of 59, and after being diagnosed 7 weeks before with terminal cancer, he passed away from a heart attack.
My world turned upside down, never to be the same, and 2 days later, my mum who had travelled from her home in France, arrived to take care of me, but within an hour collapsed and passed away three days later from a massive bleed in the brain.
I was destroyed, but I learnt that life is very precious, that it can change in a moment. So remembering the words Brian had said to me. You must move on in your life and be happy, I’ve kept that promise, and I try every day to smile, laugh out loud, at least every couple of hours and basically enjoy life.
So here’s where I’m asking for you to help me keep that promise and enjoy life to the full..... As well as being the lead of our local British Heart Foundation fundraising team, I now want to raise some money for them. They don’t just help those with heart illnesses, but they do a lot of research in linked illnesses that cause heart problems. Just like Brian, he was terminally ill but it was his heart that took him from me. They also do research into strokes, the illness that took my beautiful mum.
Another charity that was just about to play a very important role in mine and Brian’s life is St Elizabeth Hospice, not there for just end of life care, but so many other things to those with a terminal illness, helping people to have an active and enjoyable everyday life as possible, whilst also supporting them through their illness. They aren’t just there for those that are ill, but also for their family and friends. They give so much it’s time for me to give them something back.
So on 28th June this year I will be climbing the O2 in London! Crazy for someone who doesn’t like heights, or climbing up hills! Please help me to raise funds for both these good causes by sponsoring me to climb the O2 and donate on my JustGiving page, don’t forget if are a UK tax payer to gift aid your donation, so that both charities can receive more money.
Thank you so much for your donations, and for believing in me to complete the challenge!
