Story

Shaking Two Trees are The Bopseys (Seamus & Karam Singh)

We are brothers as well as squash fanatics and community members. On October 7-9, we will be attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the Longest Squash Marathon (singles). The current record stands at just over 38 hours.

This attempt is a huge undertaking! It requires a transformation of our lives, bodies, and building a great team of support and sponsors.

Through this attempt, we hope to achieve a few things. The first is to raise awareness about the importance of mental health, which is why we’re raising money forJigsaw (Dublin) and  OTR (Bristol), two amazing charities that provide mental health support and advocacy for young people.

Jigsaw understand's and support young people’s mental health.  Both online and in their services around the country, advice and support is made available to young people aged 12–25 years-old.  They give families, educators, and those who support young people’s mental health ways to cope and the skills to be there for young people. Using their collective power, knowledge and expertise, they make sure that youth mental health is a national and local priority.

OTR is a mental health social movement by and for young people aged 11-25 in Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset.  OTR isn't just a charity providing mental health services, it's a mental health movement mobilised to support, promote and defend the mental health, rights and social position of young people.

“Shaking Two Trees” is how Peter Gabriel introduced drummer Manu Katche during a performance of Shaking The Tree during the filming of Secret World Live. We love Peter Gabriel, adore this album and just loved the sound of this phrase. In the context of our attempt we saw squash rackets, instead of drum sticks, in our hands. We saw them actually becoming a part of our body rather than just something we held. Given the length of time on court perhaps we will start growing roots.

Above all, whether we break the record or not, this attempt is about the journey, celebrating our love for this sport and raising money for two great causes.

We would kindly ask you to split your donation equally between the two charities. Seamus lives in Bristol, UK and Karam lives in Edgeworthsdown, Ireland. We are aiming to raise £7,500 for each charity.
