Story
We are helping the forcibly displaced Rohingya refugee's, they need simple things pots/pans, jugs, knives, medical aid and of course food!
The heartbreaking story that personally motivated me to join the street kids cause, one of the organisers retold the story of a young girl, perhaps 13 who said,
'If I go to school who will earn the Tk200 for my family?' that's £2!
200 pennies a day for a girl to sell herself, I decided I had to do something!
There are an estimated 20,000 children who live in brothels in Bangladesh and countless thousands around the world.
Born into an environment where they are groomed at a very early age and engulfed into a world of sexual abuse, torture and violence. They are marginalized from the community and find it difficult to enroll into mainstream schools and society in general due to the stigma of been child of a sex worker. Children as young as 5-6 help their mothers by cleaning the rooms after a client visit. They handle dirty used paraphernalia as well as being exposed to drugs like Yabba.
Young girls are groomed and are then forced into prostitution from a very young age where they are abused and sold for a few pounds to countless men. The evil desire of sexually abusing virgin young girls commands a high price and due to poverty, violence and lack of opportunity sex workers see no option but to force their own children into prostitution and sell them to the highest bidder. Some of these children are lured from the villages from their parents with a hope of working as a domestic maid. Others are knowingly sold to pay for family debts. Those that are running away from abuse and end up on the streets are eventually trafficked into sexual exploitation and end up in the brothels.
Children develop severe mental illnesses such as post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and often self-harm, they also feel obligated to carry on to feed their families.
We have been working with vulnerable children in Bangladesh for a number of years and have successfully rescued over 1,000 children from evils of the street. We have rescued children who have been in bonded sexual slavery and reunited lost children with their families. Now with your help we have now embarked on this new journey to save children from the brothels.
