Story
In Cardiff, we look after more than 500 cases of new gynaecological cancers per year. We strive to provide world class care for our patients with up to date technologies and evidence based practice, in a department we are proud of. In order to continually improve our service we are constantly looking of ways to develop.
Cardiff is one of few gynaecological cancer centres in the UK that does not have access to robotic surgery. Robotic surgery is state of the art technology facilitating the surgical process and is already commonly used elsewhere in the UK and World. Operating robots are expensive and we are under no illusion that fundraising such as this will not cover these costs alone but, what we hope to achieve is a raised awareness of this need in Cardiff in order to provide equality of care for our women. Funds that we raise will facilitate development of our department and support ongoing applications to better our service with technologies such as robotic surgery. Public support goes a long way.
As a team of surgeons, oncologists and nurses, we have set ourselves the challenge of climbing the 3 Welsh Peaks in 24 hours in order to raise money. Many of the team have not completed anything like this before and are committed to training to ensure they are successful. Please helps us with your support in any way you can.
