Story
Syrian Kitchen is an initative started by Oasis Liverpool after we visited the Syrian Border with Jordan in December last year as part of a volunteer relief worker team. We provide support for Syrian refugees though essential survival supplies, and a number of developing projects. You can read about us at www.syriankitchen.co.uk.
While our new accounts process, we're able to continue to take donations for esssential supplies for Refugees in Mafraq, Jordan which we'll distribute on our next trip at the end of February.
Most of the refugees in Mafraq arrived with nothing. Aside from having to walk 2-3 weeks across the desert to escape the danger in Syria, it’s not unusual for people & families who look like they are leaving to be shot. People arrive with very little, often with children ill from the cold, dehydration and three week walk.
The arrival of 70,000 refugees to a small town has put huge pressure on housing, and I met people living in partly constructed buildings, a cattle shed and worse. All slept either on the floor or on thin foam mattresses, which also serve as seating areas, all had very little to eat, and were in need of blankets and heaters for winter. Families are struggling to survive as we speak.
The only way to even begin to meet the need is for all of us to help. We guarantee anything you give will go directly towards providing survival essentials to families in need.
