Story
I am a registrar in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Poole General Hospital and treat patients with head and neck cancer every day. I also like to row, but have hung up my oars in order to train for the Copenhagen marathon. Your donation towards my participation in the marathon on 22 May 2011 will provide funds which will enable About Face to continue supporting people who have cancer of the head and neck, from their Centre based opposite the hospital. The charity also raises awareness of cancer issues and provides facilities for use by trainee surgeons - just have a look at the "News" page of their website: http://www.about-face.info/news.html and you will see pictures taken at a course there in which I recently participated.
It is not possible on the Just Giving site to name each offline donation but I wish to acknowledge £100 received from the staff at Wesleyan Assurance Society and an amazing total of £861 collected from visitors at the Dolphin Shopping Centre, Poole on Saturday 14 May, £70 from the About Face "drop in" volunteers, £160 from colleagues at Poole Hospital and £290 to date from staff and visitors to Dorchester County Hospital (with more to collect after the event)! Some donors gave their details for Gift Aid purposes and I have mentioned them at the bottom of this page*
Thank you so much!
Serryth
