Hi Everyone,

Thank you very much for taking the time to visit my “Just giving page”, I am running the London marathon for the Drake Music project. This particular charity is very close to my family due to its support and help it gave my sister Charlotte when she was very ill. It allowed her to see light during a very dark patch. The use of music technology enabled her to start playing an instrument again and gave her enjoyment she so craved at that point. The use of ‘music technology’ has helped many hundreds of disabled people to play instruments and can be used successfully by those whose movement is limited to the blinking of their eyes. For those who are dependent on others for their everyday needs to have the ability to create and play music is a tremendous boost for their self-esteem.  When Charlotte started she only had movement of her head and thumbs and this last year she played a significant role in the Paraorchestra’s performance at the closing of the Paralympics in London.

I last ran a marathon at the age of 17yrs and due to everyone’s generosity I managed to raise a substantial amount which went towards helping disabled people to enjoy the benefits of learning how to play music using technology. 

This is a really worthwhile charity.  People take music for granted but for many this is their only chance of being able to express their creativity, which in turn gives them some independence.

I hope this time I complete the marathon without the dramatic ending of collapsing a 100yards from the finish and being taken off in an ambulance, however once recovered I did finish it!
