Story
Our local air ambulance service was chosen by the team as one of the Sentura charities for 2020. However due to the Covid 19 Pandemic we were unable to undertake our usual fundraising challenges in support of them but with restrictions easing a little in Spring 2021, we decided that now was the time to make it happen!
From the 28th of April to the 4th of May, we will be joining the Air Ambulance Super-hero challenge and committing to walk, jog, run, cycle or swim 214 miles, which is equivalent to covering the distance of the perimeter of the 5 counties covered by the Air Ambulance service (Leicestershire, Rutland, Derbyshire, Northamptonshire & Warwickshire).
Every day of the year, our local air ambulance (Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland) is helping save more lives. Its critical care paramedics, doctors and pilots attend an average of five rescue missions a day. The air ambulance gives people the very best chance of survival and recovery and is supported by a Critical Care Car meaning that they can reach those who need them 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
The charity receives no government or NHS funding for its daily missions, which each cost an average of £1700. Our fundraising target is £2000 to cover the cost of a mission, so we would be grateful if you would be a super-hero and donate to help us to achieve this. Thank you so much.
