Dream team: Paul, Matt, Nick, and Nathan

In 2020, after Dad's Motor Neuron Disease diagnosis, we launched our original "Munros 4 MND" fundraising challenge to complete the remaining 15 (of 282) Munros that Dad wasn't able to do himself due to the progression of his illness. We completed the "Final 15" Munros as Dad's proxy in 2021 and raised over £60,000 for the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation in the process. The support we received throughout, and since, has been nothing short of incredible.

Devastatingly, a few weeks after we completed Dad's final Munro, he lost his battle with MND.

He was so proud of what we achieved in his name.

Our original "Munros 4 MND" challenge enabled us to raise money to help fight MND whilst doing something something that was such a big part of Mum and Dad's lives. The Scottish hills have now become a very special place for the whole family. With this in mind, we wanted to come up with a way we could continue to fundraise whilst keeping this connection to Dad and the Munros.

So here it is:

In July 2023, Paul, Matt, Paul's brother-in-law Nick, and good friend Nathan are going to attempt to climb all four of the most northerly Scottish Munros in 24 hours:

Ben Hope, 927m

Ben Klibreck, 962m

Ben More Assynt, 998m

Conival, 987m

These four remote mountains are located in the northern reaches of the Scottish Highlands, and together make up "Section 16" of the Munros. The challenge will see us attempt to hike 42km, ascend 3,250m in height, and travel the distance between the Munros almost entirely on single track roads, all within 24hrs! We have an amazing support crew in place who will be on hand to help with the driving and to keep us topped up with supplies.

As far as we are aware this has never been attempted in this way before!

We will be starting and finishing our challenge at the same location, near the village of Lairg. The timer will only stop once we make it back to the start point... hopefully less than 24 hours after we set off!

All donations are massively appreciated and mean so much to us. No family should have to go through what ours has, and so we will keep doing whatever we can to help beat this devastating disease.

You can follow our progress on our website (www.munros4mnd.co.uk), and on Twitter and Instagram @Munros4MND.

Currently there is no effective treatment or cure for MND, and that's where the My Name'5 Doddie foundation step in. Any donation, no matter how small could make a huge difference to the lives of those suffering with MND and their families, by funding research and clinical trials.

Thanks for taking the time to read our story. Together we can beat MND.
