Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit this fundraising page.
I have been involved with Lifeshare since 2018, a brilliant voluntary organisation established to help meet the needs of homeless and vulnerable people in Manchester and Salford. This year, thanks to the pandemic, most of us are having a virtual work Christmas party so Secret Santa is that bit harder to do. This led to a simple idea...
All those tenners we would normally spend panic buying some bubble bath for that colleague you don't know very well could be better spent this year by a charity. I wondered how much we could raise if we made this simple swap and how much help that would be for a charity like Lifeshare.
It is estimated that 1 in 154 people in Manchester are homeless and there is currently a plan on the table in Greater Manchester to apply cutbacks worth £2.8m within its homelessness service.
Through helping out at their breakfast project (serving breakfast each weekend to homeless people in central Manchester) I have seen firsthand how much a warm meal and a drink can go a long way. Why are we using these tenners on lackluster gifts when we could be helping those who really need it?
The money will go to providing hot food and drinks plus warm clothing to keep homeless people comfortable through the winter.
I hope you can join me in my mission to raise some cash for this fantastic charity. I cannot imagine being homeless at any time of the year, but it must be so much worse during the winter and at Christmas time.
