Story
In a year that's been tougher than ever, can you help us spread some joy this Christmas?
Over the past four years with support from our beloved Second City citizens we have hosted an annual Christmas event to help those in need. The drop-in event which has previously taken place in Digbeth has provided a hot festive meal, care package of clothes + toiletries, a hair-cut and a warm place to shelter. However, due to the current on-going restrictions we are regrettably unable to hold our event this year.
We would like to say a massive thankyou to each and every person who has supported us in previous years - thank you to all of our volunteers and for all of your donations - It went a long way, but this year we need your support more now than ever!
Since the start of the pandemic our city has seen a huge surge in homelessness with shelter facilities and services being pushed to their max, which is why this year, we have chosen to support Sifa Fireside; Birmingham's main day centre for homeless and vulnerably housed adults. Their work is crucial in helping individuals experiencing crisis find sustainable routes out of homelessness.
It costs £12,000 to keep the doors open, heating on and services open for an entire month at Sifa Fireside. Can you help us reach our target of £6,000 to ensure the facility is able to withstand what the winter months throw their way?
- £50 donation would pay the phone bill to cover safe and well checks.
- £40 Donation would pay for food for service users for one day
- £20 donation would pay for hot showers for a week.
- £10 donation would pay to keep the kitchen running for a day or keep the centre heated for a day.
