Sebastian was born with a condition called Arthrogyposis, which means locked joints. He was also born with bilateral hip displacement and bilateral femur fractures. These fractures were repaired by putting him in casts from birth for 6 weeks. His hands, feet and knees have slowly improved through intensive physiotherapy and with the help of a tendon released in his ankle.
Sebastian was also born with very little muscle tone which is very common with this condition. It has been related to a fault in the stretch of his DNA which produces the proteins needed to help the muscles grow.
There are only 8 known people to have this cause, Sebastian is the first child known to have this. There is no known research on this because of the few people affected.
Sebastian is currently in a main stream nursery and will be going to a mainstream school in September. He would really benefit from a manual wheelchair so he can get around independently, without having to be pushed or carried.
Please help us to get Sebastian some freedom and independence by helping us raise £1955.00 for his chair.
