Story
In July 2023, I will be taking part in a Loch Ness swim relay to raise funds for Aspire. Aspire do amazing work to support people that have experienced a spinal injury. Aspire's work really does change people's lives for the better but is only possible through private donations.
Loch Ness is 23 miles long and rarely gets above 16 degrees in temperature. I will be following "English Channel swim" rules which dictate that I can only wear goggles, swim cap and trunks (no wetsuit).
As a swim relay, I will be part of a team of five and we will take it in turns to swim for an hour at a time. Each swimmer handing over to the next after their hour's swim and then re-entering the water after each swimmer has completed their swim.
Loch Ness presents it's own challenges - fresh water (so no natural buoyancy unlike sea water), low temperature and a resident MONSTER !
