Story
Whilst I was at college we were able to pick a charity to do volunteer work for once a week. On the list was a theatre company that supports actors with a range of learning disabilities, called Blue Apple Theatre. With a love for acting and being part of a drama group when I was younger I thought this was the perfect fit. Now I would like to support them that little bit more by taking donations for my attempt at the London Marathon.
Blue Apple Theatre puts on two plays a year, one of which is usually based on a classic text, for example plays by Shakespeare. Their work allows for the actors to meet new people and have stage experience in front of large audiences, reducing social isolation, improving their confidence, acting skills, public speaking, dancing and singing.
With money from donations Blue Apple is able to keep putting on these large productions and life changing experiences.

Blue Apple makes a huge difference to the lives of people with learning disabilities, people who we believe should be treated equally and fairly both in the arts and beyond. Our mission is to challenge prejudices through high-quality and inclusive artistic practices, enabling people with learning disabilities to achieve excellence in all levels of their life. Through Blue Apple, our talented performers gain confidence, increase their fitness levels, develop friendships – all of which will benefit their mental health and wellbeing.
