Story

On the 12.06.2018 my dad suffered a horrendous stroke. The bloodclot compromised the blood flow to his small bowel which killed the tissue. He had two operations to remove this part of his small bowel which has infact died and is now left with a stoma bag. He spent 3 weeks in a coma, 2 months in intensive care and an overall 6 months in hospital. He then went to a rehabilitation care home, where the stroke society provided my dad with the care and rehab he needed to help him get back on his feet again. Just to bring some awareness to how a stroke may affect someone after as before his stroke, he worked, was fully independent and was relatively healthy. The after-math of the stroke; he now lives in a care home as he is pretty much fully dependant on others, he suffers with dementia from the stroke and can't walk so is in a wheelchair. My dad is completely dependant on me and niamh in ways we would never imagine. He has carers around the clock. It's mad as he was and always has been the most independent person ever haha. Me and niamh are doing this walk for him to raise money for the stroke association who provide so much help to those who've suffered from strokes. We really appreciate any donations so much x
