Every Year 10,000 Men Die from Prostate Cancer, myself, Sean (my husband), Mark (my brother), Leanne (sister in law) and my dad are taking part in the 10,000 challenge to raise awareness of Prostate Cancer!
The 10,000 challenge is doing 10,000 of something to raise money and awareness of this cancer that most people know so little about! For each participant in our bike ride we have added 10k and in total we are riding 50k......
We are one of the lucky ones as we have our dad riding with us, the one man who has been there by our sides with everything we have ever done......
Our world was crushed last year when our Dad was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer.....he caught in time and thanks the research and development done by Prostate Cancer UK, our Dad is a survivor!
Early prostate cancer generally does not cause any symptoms at all, our Dad was diagnosed simply by his doctor asking him if he would like to take the test, which is a blood sample taken to check PSA levels, the test were sent off and when the test came back our whole world fell apart.
The past months have been hard on us all as a family, but we now feel so lucky that following my dads treatment his Gleason levels are now back to normal, this sponsored bike ride is not just about raising money for Prostate Cancer UK but it is also to urge every one reading this if your male....to GO and GET TESTED, if your a Wife, Mother Daughter, Granddaughter, Niece or even a friend tell them to GO and GET TESTED, it could save their lives, just like it saved our dads!
We would like to thank every one in advance for their support in this sponsored bike ride and for all your donations no matter how small are x
