Rossendale Tri-Athlon - Sunday 27th May 2018
Hello All...
On Sunday 27th May 2018, I will again be taking part in the Rossendale Tri-Athlon. I will be entering as part of a team with my fiancée Katie Plant and my friend Neil Higham.
Last year we were joined by a group of friends who also entered the relay event. I'm really pleased that they have decided to do this again in 2018. In addition, I also have 4 friends who have also agreed to take part - however these guys are doing the Tri-Athlon solo. The entrants are:
Team 1: Sean Spencer, Katie Plant, Neil Higham
Team 2: Paul Guerin, Ste Skillings, Beth McChesney
Team 3: Chris Spencer, Jonny Jones, Lisa Spencer
Solo: Jason Smith
Solo: Simon Hurst
Solo: Daniel Hodgson
Solo: John Sanderson
I want to try and make this an annual event to help raise awareness and as much money as possible for Muscular Dystrophy.
For those that don't know - I suffer from a rare condition called Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy. This condition has affected 3 generations of my family. Both my dad and Grandad died from this condition. My Grandad died aged 28 and more recently my father died aged 55. My Grandad would have turned 80 years old this year.
There is still no cure to this condition, but I dream that one day there might be. The research that is ongoing is promising and they have found drugs which can delay the onset of this condition. However these drugs are still at clinical trial stages.
The funding available is extremely limited and this results in any progress being slow. By raising money this can help speed up any research and hopefully ensure a cure is found faster.
In order to assist with this research - I have set up a Family Fund account with Muscular Dystrophy. This ensures any fundraising goes straight into vital research into finding a cure. The link to this is below:

My objective is clear - I want to do all I can to try to find a cure to this condition.
With the continued support of family, friends and colleagues we can hopefully make a difference.
I want to say a massive thanks for your donations. Donating anything you can really does make a difference, and I really appreciate your ongoing support.
Sean xx
