Story

FINISHED!!!

Dear all.
Well, it covered two countries, 275 miles and 3 days but I completed the Champagne Supernova to Reims in France last Friday afternoon and am still in one piece to tell my story.
You may remember I did the added leg from Grays to Dover before the official bike ride began in Calais and it has to be said it was a properly tough challenge. I averaged just shy of 16mph for the whole distance in my baggy shorts, trainers and hybrid bike. That's close to 6 hours on the saddle each day.
The low point was on the first official day cycling from Calais to Reims and we had a couple of hours of torrential rain as we got into the morning leg. Stopped off for a quick lunch drenched but unbroken and made it to the mid-point in Amiens by late Thursday afternoon.

Funniest moment was probably getting stopped on the last day by the gendarmerie for going through a red light a few hours shy of Reims. Was desperately hoping for a nice comfortable police cell but they just ticked me off and forced me back on my bike to carry on riding! Scandaleux!!!

So got to Reims last Friday and immediately hit the bottle or goblets as the picture suggests. Managed to get so drunk I couldn’t stand up so was lucky I had my bike to sit on to make it back to hotel ;-)

But anyway, just a big thanks to all of your good wishes, prayers and sponsorship (which has gone 100% to the o2e cause). A large glass of plonk when I see you all in the bar next where I can give the full story on my biking to boozing odyssey.

God bless you all
Sean.
