Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Back in May 2021 I heard the words no-one ever wants to hear "You have cancer". And so started some of the darkest days in the run up to the operation I had to remove my prostate.
During this time I connected with Prostate Cancer UK who were the most unbelievable support to me to start working towards my full diagnosis and treatment and what the road ahead looked like.
The cancer was found and I had an operation at the beginning of June to completely remove my prostate. When I had my biopsy, the cancer was given a 7/10 in terms of aggressiveness / postition / size which was upgraded to 9/10 when it was removed.
I was one of the lucky ones, but only just and that is a super scary thought.
To this date I continue to get clear blood tests and long may that continue.
Prostate cancer has affected the lives of myself and my family in a huge way as my Dad had prostate cancer some 26 years ago. The advancement in treatment and support over that time has been phenomenal. This needs to continue and it is with your help we can support others like me in the future.
So to give back to Prostate Cancer UK, myself, and one of my closest friends, Andre, will be doing a 100km walk on the banks of the River Thames from Putney to Henley on 9th September. We are going to do this continuously leaving at 7.30am on Saturday morning and fingers crossed with a tailwind we will be in Henley in circa 24 hours.
You can follow my training journey and then the walk itself on my insta page https://www.instagram.com/thebigmanwalksandtalks/
