Story
After a number of quiet years on the Charity Challenge
Fundraising scene, probably since completing the Marathon Des Sables in 2015, I
think it is time to get myself off my a**....or should I say get on it!
As someone who loves training and keeping fit, I have always
enjoyed a challenge, especially if it is supporting my good friend, the late great Steve
Prescott and his Foundation.
So, in these unprecedented times we all find ourselves in
what better reason and opportunity to support those less fortunate. With the National
2.6 Challenge initiative to help all UK Charities who are struggling during these difficult times,
I have decided to do a non-stop 26 hour Wattbike ride alongside my good friend,
and former RL colleague Ewan Dowes, who will also be supporting the charities
of his choice. We will be riding from 6am Saturday 25th April, and finishing 8am Sunday 26th.
We will be hopefully setting up a virtual ride on Zwift, so people can login
and join us along the way!
Why the Steve Prescott Foundation?
I’m sure many of my contacts already know Steve’s story, but for those who don’t please see the link below-

The SPF have successfully helped a number of beneficiaries
since 2006, including The Christie cancer hospital, The RFL Benevolent Fund,
which supports severely injured players, also the SPF Special Causes Fund,
which specialises in the research and treatment of Pseudomyxoma patients.
However,
like all charities 2020 so far has been a severely testing time. With virtually
all fundraising events being cancelled and income streams drying up, I want to
do everything I can to help the Foundation continue to not only help those in
need, but continue to inspire people in the great man’s name.
Many thanks for your support.
