Story
In June, a few of us are attempting to walk the national Three Peaks - Snowdon, Scafell Pike, and Ben Nevis across three consecutive weeks. Snowdon on 2nd June, Scafell on 9th June, then the big one… Ben Nevis on 15th June.
What’s that, you say? “You’re not doing it in 24 hours… that’s cheating.”
Well, the highest I’ve climbed in the last 20 years is a couple of flights of stairs, and the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales are a total walking distance of 23 miles (37km) with a total ascent of 10,052 feet (3,064 metres)! This is twice the ascent of the Yorkshire Three Peaks……. and 700 times the height of my stairs…!! I don’t even think there is a lift or anything.
If I make it through these, I’ll have a think about the 24 hour one if you promise to sponsor me again…
#threepeaksthreeweeks
I’m not exactly renowned for my hiking and mountain climbing prowess… so this is a big challenge and training is well underway. As part of this training I’m planning to walk the Yorkshire three peaks in May. Hopefully my terrible knees hold out…
Please give what you can.
Thanks!
