Hi everyone! Yes I must be mad but yes I'm doing the London Marathon again and all doing it for a great charity called bliss that helped us get through a lot! Now you may have read my story before but please read again and understand why I am doing it all again!
So this is how my story goes................
Back on the 14th January 2005 my wife (Lindsey) had to go to the London UCH to have a check and a further scan due to pre-eclampsia. We also discovered that one of the twins was not eating and all the food and nourishments was only going to one of the twins!
We returned to Barnet hospital and we was spoken to by a doctor at length about what was going on and he explained that either we carry on with the pregnancy and loose one of the twins or go for a c-section and have the twins premature!
We said that we would give them both the chance and go ahead with the emergency c-section! The doctor was like "great let's go down now!" I was like what the hell this is all quick! The doctor was saying "the quicker the better!"
So that was it she was rushed down to theatre and all surrounded by all doctors and paediatric nurses! The surgeon started on Lindsey and I was sitting with Lindsey and then all I heard was ok baby A Is a girl congratulations guys and then 2 minutes later we heard him say ok baby B is a girl also well done guys and poor you dad it's going to be extremely expensive for you!
I was looking at the girls and baby A (Esme) was not responding and all the paediatric nurses was all working on her and she was not breathing at all! I honestly thought she was not going to make it then I said to the nurses please please do not give up on her she is a fighter please they wanted to stop but I was begging them to carry on and finally she responded! They rushed her to the neonatal unit and of she went!
Then I was looking at baby B (Brooke) they was working there magic on her and she was breathing fine but still pumping air into her! and they rushed her down the unit as well!
They was so tiny and fragile I felt helpless! Lindsey was asking me are they ok I was like yes there fine but honestly I didn't know! I was scared but I had to be brave for Lindsey!
Lindsey was put on a ward to rest she was so tired! I went and checked on our little girls and I was praying that they will get through this and I was begging that my grandad was watching them! And he did!
12 years on they have turned into little ladies! And we couldn't be prouder!
Recently my Dad has just past away he always thought that the premature team was fantastic and couldn't respect them enough! They didn't only just help my my girls they help my niece too. Please feel free to donate what ever you wish in memory of my dad.
I will run in respect of my dad!
