We are proud to announce that the Scott Rennie Foundation has been
formed and is in the process of achieving Trust status on the way to
becoming a registered charity. The Foundation has two core aims; to gift
modest sums of money to those aspiring to the highest levels in the
sport of rowing and to raise awareness of conditions that can lead to
Sudden Cardiac Death (SCD) through Scott Rennie Foundation supported
screening programs around the country. Whilst we make plans for an
official launch event in the near future we want to take this chance to
get the fund-raising rolling by doing something daft...
On the 1st August rowers Henry Ellender and Ben Smith are taking on
IRONMAN UK, a super-distance triathlon involving a 3800m (2.4mile) swim,
a 180km (112mile) cycle and a 42km (26.2mile) marathon to finish. The
day starts at 6am and we have until 11pm to finish all three whilst
meeting cut-off times along the way. Only two months ago Ben was putting
on his wetsuit backwards and Henry was well north of a 100kg but after
some tough training we're both starting to taper ready for the big day
(hoping we've done enough!).
As the Scott Rennie Foundation is yet to get a registered charity number
we are raising money through CRY to fund the heart screening of rowers
nationwide following in Scott's footsteps. The more money
we can raise the more people we can get screened. The trustees of the
Scott Rennie Foundation, all friends and family of Scott, are all hugely
grateful to CRY for their support in the last 16 months.
Please dig deep and donate now to support the Scott Rennie Foundation and it's future work.
Thank you,
Henry & Ben
