As the 40 anniversary of my entrance into the world becomes visible on the horizon I felt that I needed to give myself a challenge in order to fully embrace the big four oh! May 2013 is the dreaded date and to save hitting that day with nothing other than a mere blip on radar I needed to come up with a cunning plan.
So, having recently been to London on the same weekend as the marathon and seeing the excited but slightly petrified faces of the various fun runners I realised I wanted to be there too. Running the marathon is a good deed right? But that’s been done before. I need something to tie in the 40 bit. 40 marathons?? Too big, think more sensibly!
A challenge rather than replacement knees was what I had in mind.
Therefore, a sensible approach to the 40 thing was required. If 4x4 doesn’t quite equal 16 but does mean a decent off-road vehicle then I could try to manipulate 4x10 to at least pretend to equal 40.
So a plan was born. 4 marathons, 10 half marathons in a year should be possible, should represent a decent challenge and should allow me to justifiably approach May 2013 with my head held high.
The 1st half marathon is on the 1st July (Stonehaven). The finish line is the Edinburgh Marathon in May 2013.
