Story
Since May 19th last year I’ve now walked over 3,130 miles and wanted to finish it off by walking to my grandfather's home town of Nantwich, Cheshire in his memory. It’s a distance of just over 50 miles, which I completed on Saturday 12th May at Nantwich Cricket Club, a place where he was actively involved over the past 80 years.
He was a big inspiration to me and amongst his many achievements he walked from John O’Groats to Lands End twice in the Eighties, completed the 3 peaks challenge in under 24 hours, scaled Snowdon 218 times, trekked through the Himalayas to Everest base camp, swam the English Channel as part of a relay team and did a lot of work and fund raising for various charities, which earned him the MBE back in 1997.
I’ve decided to complete the walk for the Trust’s charitable fund here at New Cross Hospital and in particular I’d like to donate it to the Dementia Ward and Heart and Lung Centre (50/50).
So please dig deep and donate now, it's much appreciated
