Story
Sam and his family are changing the life of our community, and our community is changing Sam's life too. We'd love you to join in.
Steph and Kris second child Sam was born on the 18th September 2014 following a very healthy and normal pregnancy. When Sam was born at full term it was quickly realised there were abnormalities and he was given a MRI at less than a day old. Steph and Kris were told that his brain had not formed properly and Sam would be developmentally delayed and have disabilities. At 2 days old Sam had his first epileptic seizure and the family have been on a crazy emotional rollercoaster ever since.
The Douglas family are just ordinary people and they try to lead as normal a life as possible with Sam and his 6 year old sister Molly.
Sam is extremely delayed in his development and, while there is no cure, there are a number of therapies and treatments that can give Sam the best chance of gaining some independence. Unfortunately, the NHS cannot support regular or intensive therapy for children like Sam which could really make a massive difference to his life.
Steph and Kris recently with the help of a few family members and friends took Sam to London for an intensive course of CME Therapy which has done wonders for Sam’s balance and will, hopefully aid him in becoming physically independent. They are exploring other therapies which have promise for Sam but, they come at a great price.
Sam is also going to need more specialist equipment too.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you will help Just4Children on the fundraising journey for Sam. Every single penny could help towards giving him the best chance.
