Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Please read below for the reasons why I am running the London Marathon for The Firefighters Charity. But first, I'd like to give something in return for sponsoring me.

I'll be asking people or companies who sponsor me to add a time to their comment that they think I will complete the run in. The more money you donate, the more entries that you get.

For individuals who donate, each £10 donated will be worth one entry

For companies, every £50 donated will be one entry.

The company and individual who get the closest will be able to pick from various prizes. These will include things like a free 4 ball at a local golf course to you, free training for your at our open courses or the company premises from 1st Choice Safety Training & Consultancy and more.

I will update this page with the lengths and frequencies of the runs tat I am doing but I will not talk about my pace, I couldn't make it that easy for you.

So for the real reasons to sponsor, please read below, Thanks.

As you may know I have been a Firefighter since 2005. I am lucky enough to have been given a place to run the London Marathon, 2018,  for the Firefighters Charity.

Why are the Firefighters Charity needed?  During a Firefighters career they will visit and carry out everything from the 'cat stuck up a tree', community/business safety events, vehicle accidents (including aircraft), various types of fire situations all the way through to natural disasters & terrorism.

For the biggest part, there is a happy ending to what we do, but we do unfortunately see people with various injuries and sometimes have to comfort people in their final moments. All of this takes it toll, both physically and mentally.

The Firefighters Charity have sites across the country to aid those Firefighters and their families. For some it's short courses of physiotherapy, for others it's long term mental health therapy.

Every little will help this great cause, £5 allows a Firefighter to take part in a group session, £20 one psychological session & £30 gets one hour of service access online.

As you may have guessed, this is a charity so they aren't government funded. I am lucky enough to have needed their help but know many who have.

Those who know my love of beer & food will appreciate that this is going mean a lot of blood, sweat & tears to achieve this. Between now and then I will be taking part in many events to get me ready. So, please help me raise funds so that they can support your Firefighters in their time of need.
