Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
While being aware of Dementia UK, it wasn't until my wife became an Admiral Nurse, that I understood the great work this charity does.
My wife is one of 375 Admiral Nurses and the very first in South Tyneside (very proud, can you tell?). Although not new to the country as a whole, there has been no specialist dementia support in certain areas of our country, so as the service expands, funding is vitally important.
An Admiral Nurse supports not just the person who is showing symptoms/has a dementia diagnosis, but the families that are caring for them also.
As well as South Tyneside, a new service is also hopefully being made available for people in the Gateshead area too, so if you are aware of a friend or family member who may need support and you weren't aware of what support was out there, please contact Dementia UK or talk to the relevant persons GP for referral.
Over to what I'll be doing to try to convince you give us a few quid!
When slightly fitter, I managed to run last year with a time of 1 hour 48 minutes. I should probably pick up the pace when it comes to training as I'm nowhere near this as it stands. One too many takeaways, 100 too many beers.
Anyway, my goal, which I now must achieve for this great charity, is to not just better last year's time, but to do so convincingly.
I WILL run this year's race at a time of 1 hour and 40 minutes and for every minute over, I'll donate an extra 20 quid myself.
1 hour 41 mins - £20
1 hour 42 mins - £40
1 hour 43 mins - £60
and so on.
Please give what you can, if you can.
