Story
I am running both the Brighton and London marathons in 2022, in remembrance of my brother Steve. All proceeds will be going to the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance, for their quick response when they tried their best efforts to help save my brother.
I had originally planned to run both the Brighton and London marathons in 2020, both in the same week, but due to Covid-19 these were cancelled. They are now back on, but going ahead on 10th April & 2nd October. As I can’t run them both in the same week, to challenge myself I am aiming to run each marathon around 3 hours 45 minutes.
My brother sadly passed away on 12th March 2019. I didn’t know what to do or how to help, but threw myself into training and decided to run both the marathons in his memory. If I told him I was running one marathon he would be telling me I’m a lunatic, let alone two in a week - we all know what he’d be saying! It’s mentally and physically tough to do this, but with covid and a 2 year delay it has taken a lot to keep this dedication.
All the money raised in Steve’s memory will be donated to the Herts & Essex Air Ambulance. Their quick response and best efforts to save Steve’s life will never be forgotten by my family and I, and they will always hold a special place in our hearts. As a publicly funded organisation they rely on donations and this is one small way to help keep them supporting families like mine.
Any donations no matter how small will be greatly appreciated, along with good luck messages!
