Story
I'm running the London Marathon 2019 to raise money for a charity that means a lot to my dear friend, Sarah Ashley-Cantello, who is living with advanced bowel cancer at the age of 29 (proving that it is not after all only an old man’s disease).
Bowel Cancer UK is the UK’s leading charity working to stop bowel cancer taking more lives. As cancers go, it is the second biggest killer in the UK. Through the charity’s awareness and campaign work they strive for earlier diagnosis (9 in 10 people will survive when diagnosed at the earliest stage). This year they were influential in the successful bid to lower screening age for bowel cancer from 60 to 50, in England and Wales.
They also fund high quality research, and campaign for equal access to best treatment and care, which directly impacts those affected by bowel cancer and their quality of life. Their connections with international organisations ensure that they’re ahead of the curve to prioritise the most promising research into treatments and diagnosis.
Your donation will help prevent others from going through debilitating treatment like Sarah has, and offer better outcomes for those diagnosed in the future.
