Story
Thank you for visiting my dads Just Giving page. It is here that we are asking for donations for Pancreatic Cancer. Read on for a little more about my dads story and why we have chosen this charity
On the first anniversary of my dads passing (08/08/2024), myself, my sister (Jessica) and my step mum (Joanne) will be taking part in a skydive (gulp) to increase awareness and raise money for Pancreatic Cancer UK
Simply put my dad is the bravest person I will ever know. A kind, funny, loving person who loved his family and friends with all of his heart. Over the past 6 months he battled pancreatic cancer with everything he had, never once losing his incredible personality
However on 08/08/2023 he gained his angel wings and was able to rest without any pain or suffering.
My dad was 62 when he passed, and was certainly taken far too young, however, the family take great comfort in knowing that he was able to make so many precious memories with his family and his friends. Whether that be visiting different places around the world, or spending quality time here in the UK, he lived life to the fullest. He was able to build a successful business and provide for his family too (something incredibly important to him).
My dad is irreplaceable and will be deeply missed, but we take great comfort in knowing his legacy lives on through all of his family and friends
Cancer in general is a devastating life event, and although many cancers have made significant progress in allowing people to beat it, Pancreatic cancer has made little to none progress. Survival rates for pancreatic cancer have barely changed in the past 50 years. This is because it has been underfunded and doctors do not have the tools they need to diagnose this cruel cancer
To put it into perspective - in 1973 half of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer would die within 3 months, and in 2023 half of people diagnosed would still die within 3 months.
Thank you for taking the time to read a little bit of our story, and for donating in memory of my amazingly brave and courageous dad
