Over the last few years my much loved step-daughter, Louise, has lost 5 babies, the last of which was ectopic. Further investigation into why she could not carry revealed a heart shaped uterus. This condition basically restricts the room in which the baby can grow therefore limiting the chances of a successful carriage. She has now had corrective surgery so hopefully success will follow the next time she conceives. 

I chose to fundraise for SANDS Lothians as after the fourth, which she carried to 24 weeks and had to give birth to, she went to some SANDS meetings and found them very helpful  as they helped her see she was not alone in having to go through these tragic events. further to this, SANDS also helps the Fathers as they can often be forgotten about in these situations.

When a baby is lost, as-well as the Mother suffering, there is often a whole family behind them suffering as-well. Fathers, siblings, Grandparents,  Aunties and Uncles all miss out on first birthdays, first Christmas', first day of school, exam results, graduations and the plethora of events that life brings but that now can never be shared, only dreamt about. 

As I am, and it is often pointed out to me, overweight, for every Lb I lose while training for these events I will donate a Pound to my page. I'm by no means a natural runner but by supporting me in this you can help ensure that my training pain is SANDS Lothians gain.
